Citizenship tests look similar from the outside: a bank of official questions, a short exam, a pass mark. In practice the US, Canadian, and UK tests are built differently, and studying for one the way you would study for another wastes time. We built a separate offline study app for each country, and this post covers what each test asks and how each app is shaped around it.
The US civics test
The US naturalization interview includes a civics test drawn from the official 2025 list of 128 questions, plus English reading and writing checks. The officer asks questions out loud and you answer out loud, so the skill you need is recall, not recognition from a list of options.
US Citizenship Test 2026 is built around that interview format:
- All 128 official civics questions with every accepted answer and a plain-English explanation.
- 1,400+ practice questions across three practice modes, with instant feedback.
- A realistic 5-part mock interview using the 2025 pass rules, including the 65/20 rule.
- Flashcards with spaced repetition, so the questions you miss come back more often.
- Reading and writing drills using official USCIS vocabulary, and your state officials filled in automatically.
The Canadian citizenship test
The Canadian test is a written test based on the official IRCC guide, Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship. It is 20 questions in 45 minutes, and you pass at 15 out of 20. Because the questions come from a whole guide rather than a fixed list, you need to understand all ten chapters, not memorise answers.
Canadian Citizenship Test 2026 covers the full guide:
- All 10 Discover Canada chapters as 48 illustrated lessons.
- 1,000+ multiple-choice and true/false questions, each with an explanation and a chapter reference.
- Timed mock tests in the real format, with a readiness score after every attempt.
- Province- and territory-specific questions for all 13.
- A 200+ term glossary with pronunciation, and text-to-speech for every question and lesson.
The Life in the UK Test
The Life in the UK Test is based on the official handbook and covers history, traditions, government, and everyday life across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The handbook is wide, so steady revision beats cramming.
UK Citizenship Test 2026 keeps that revision focused, with handbook-based lessons, practice questions across the test topics, realistic mock tests with your best scores tracked, and coverage of all four nations.
Why all three apps work offline, with no account and no ads
People study for these tests on commutes, in waiting rooms, and in short breaks. A study app that needs a connection, pushes a sign-up wall, or interrupts a mock test with an advert gets in the way. All three apps work fully offline, need no account, show no ads, and do no tracking. Each is free to start with a one-time Premium unlock, not a subscription.
How we built them
The US and Canadian apps are native Android apps in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, with Room and DataStore for offline-first storage, Google Play Billing for the one-time unlock, Android text-to-speech, and local reminders through WorkManager. The UK app shares the same foundation. If you are planning an offline-first mobile app of your own, this is the kind of work we do under mobile app development.
These apps are independent study tools. They are not affiliated with USCIS, IRCC, the UK Home Office, or any government.
