This policy covers the Android app US Citizenship Test 2026 (package com.uscitizenshiptest.app), available on Google Play. It is written to be read in full in a few minutes, because there is little to say: the app does not ask you to create an account, does not contain advertising, and does not include analytics or tracking software.
The same text is available inside the app under Settings → Privacy Policy, and the Terms of Use under Settings → Terms of Use.
1. Summary
| Account or sign-in | None |
|---|---|
| Advertising | None |
| Analytics / tracking SDKs | None |
| Data stored on your device | Study progress, settings, chosen state and officials, purchase status cache |
| Data sent to us | None; we operate no server for the app |
| Data sent to third parties | Google Play and RevenueCat when you buy or restore the one-time unlock; the host of a small public JSON file if you tap "Update officials" |
| Permissions | Internet, network state, notifications (optional), Google Play billing |
| Children | Not directed at children under 13 |
2. Information stored on your device
The app keeps the following on your phone only, in the app's private storage:
- Learning progress: which questions you have seen, how many you answered correctly, flashcard schedule, practice and mock-interview sessions and their results.
- Settings: theme, read-aloud speed, reminder time, interview mode, whether onboarding was completed.
- Your state and officials: the U.S. state or territory you choose, the name of your U.S. representative if you type it, and any official names you enter to override the bundled list. These are used only to show the correct answers to the state-specific civics questions.
- Purchase status: a yes/no flag remembering whether the full version is unlocked, so the app works offline.
- Daily usage counters for the free version's limits.
We cannot see any of this. It is deleted when you uninstall the app. Settings → Reset progress erases the learning data while keeping your settings.
Android's built-in device backup (Google's "Backup by Google One" / Android Auto Backup) may include this app data in your own Google Drive backup if you have device backup turned on; that backup belongs to your Google account, is encrypted by Google, and is governed by Google's privacy policy. We exclude the purchase service's cache from that backup.
3. Purchases (Google Play and RevenueCat)
The app is free with an optional one-time in-app purchase ("Premium unlock"). Payment is handled entirely by Google Play; we never see your payment details. Google's handling of your purchase is described in the Google Play Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
To know whether your purchase is valid on this device, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.), a purchase-management service. When the app starts, and when you buy or restore, the following is sent to RevenueCat:
- a random app-user identifier generated on your device by the RevenueCat SDK (it is not tied to your name, email, or Google account, and we do not link it to anything);
- the Google Play purchase token and product id (
premium_unlock) for the unlock, so the purchase can be verified with Google; - basic device information the SDK sends with every request: device model, Android version, app version, locale and time zone, and your IP address as part of the network connection.
RevenueCat uses this to verify the purchase and remember that the unlock belongs to that identifier. RevenueCat acts as our service provider and does not sell this data. Its privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
"Restore purchase" asks Google Play for purchases already owned by the Google account signed in on the device and re-applies the unlock. No additional data is collected.
4. Optional "Update officials" download
Answers to questions about the current President, Vice President, Speaker, Chief Justice, and your state's senators and governor change with elections. The app ships with a list. If the developer has published a newer list, Settings shows an Update officials button; tapping it downloads one small public JSON file over HTTPS. The request contains no personal data and no identifiers. Like any web request, the server hosting the file may record your IP address and the time in ordinary server logs. The downloaded list is stored on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
If the button is not shown, this feature is not configured and the app makes no such request.
5. Notifications
If you turn on the daily study reminder, the app asks for Android's notification permission and schedules a local notification on your phone. No notification service or server is involved; nothing is sent anywhere.
6. Text-to-speech
"Hear it" and read-aloud features use the text-to-speech engine installed on your phone (for example Google Speech Services). The text spoken is the question or vocabulary word. Depending on the engine you have installed, that engine may process the text according to its own privacy policy. The app has no microphone permission and never records audio.
7. Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
INTERNET | Purchase verification with Google Play/RevenueCat; optional officials download |
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Show the offline banner and avoid failed requests when offline |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Optional daily reminder (asked only when you enable it) |
com.android.vending.BILLING | Google Play in-app purchase |
8. Children
The app is intended for people preparing for the U.S. naturalization interview and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app collects no personal information, there is nothing for a parent to request, but you can contact us at muhammadsuleman30000@gmail.com with any concern.
9. Your choices and data deletion
- Delete everything on the device: uninstall the app, or use Settings → Reset progress for learning data only.
- Purchase records: Google Play keeps the record of your purchase under your Google account (see Google Play's help on order history). To ask RevenueCat to delete the anonymous identifier and purchase record associated with your device, email muhammadsuleman30000@gmail.com from the device with the app installed; we will need the anonymous identifier, which we can explain how to find, since we have no other way to identify you. Deleting it may make the unlock unrestorable on new devices until you tap Restore purchase again.
- Reminders: turn off in Settings or revoke the notification permission in Android settings.
10. Security
Data between the app and Google Play or RevenueCat is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Data on your device is stored in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read on an unmodified phone.
11. Changes to this policy
If the app starts collecting anything new, this policy will be updated and the effective date changed. Material changes will be mentioned in the app's release notes on Google Play.
