Provably Fair Ludo: How Ludo Vest Lets You Verify Every Roll

SEP 26, 2026 · 5 MIN

Anyone who has played online Ludo has had the moment: three sixes in a row for your opponent, nothing for you, and a quiet suspicion that the dice are not really random. In most games there is no way to find out. You either trust the game or you stop playing it.

Ludo Vest was built on a simple idea: players should not have to take the dice on faith. It should be possible to check them.

What "provably fair" means

In a provably fair game, each dice roll can be verified after the fact. Instead of a hidden random number that only the server sees, the roll is produced in a way the player can check, so neither side can quietly change the outcome. The point is not that you check every roll. The point is that you could, and that the game cannot cheat without it showing.

Fair and social, not one or the other

The other trade-off in most Ludo apps is between social play and a fair game. Ludo Vest puts both in one app:

  • Provably fair dice, so you can verify rolls instead of trusting them.
  • Five game variations: classic Ludo plus four more built for quick, replayable matches, including Dominos and Jackaroo.
  • Live clubs where you play with friends, with voice chat and social features.
  • Gifts, hearts, and progression rewards as you play, plus player profiles and ranks.
  • Offline play for when you are away from a connection.

How it is built

Ludo Vest is a Flutter app backed by Node.js and Express, PostgreSQL, and WebSockets for real-time matches and clubs, running on AWS. Real-time multiplayer is mostly an infrastructure problem: keeping every player in a match in sync, handling dropped connections cleanly, and making sure the server stays the single source of truth. That is the same kind of work we do for clients under custom SaaS development and DevOps.
