Why We Built a Puzzle Game With No Ads, No Timers, and No Energy

SEP 20, 2026 · 4 MIN

Most mobile puzzle games are built to interrupt you. An advert after every level, a timer that turns a logic problem into a reflex test, and an energy bar that stops you playing until you pay or wait. We wanted a puzzle game that does the opposite.

The rule

Arrow Escape has one rule. Each arrow slides the way it points, but only if its whole path is clear. Clear the board by working out the order. The controls are precise and fair: if a move fails, it is because the path was blocked, not because of a mis-tap.

What we left out

  • No ads of any kind.
  • No forced lives or timers. Classic mode has 3 lives, Relax mode has unlimited lives, and both are free.
  • No subscriptions, coins, or energy. Optional purchases are one-time: theme packs, Arrow Styles, hint packs, or the Everything Pack.
  • No sign-in, and it works fully offline.

What is in it

240 curated levels across Easy, Normal, Hard, and Expert, endless levels once you finish those, and a Daily Challenge. The look is calm and easy on the eyes, with a free dark theme.

Why build it this way

Ad-driven games make money by holding attention, so every design choice pushes toward more interruptions. A one-time purchase model lets the game be designed around the player instead: sessions end when you want them to, not when the energy runs out. It is the same principle behind our citizenship test apps: offline, no account, no ads, and a fair one-time price.
